Words have the Power to Heal or Destroy Lives

People are always talking about things coming full circle…

I experienced it first hand today…big time.

I try to be as positive as I can on Facebook and in my private life. I try to encourage people as much as I can…and it’s never untruthful…I wholeheartedly mean every single word even If the person doesn’t believe it themselves.

And in the past 2 weeks I’ve been really vocal in trying to be better and more careful with the words that come out of my mouth. I don’t want to be a messenger of hate, nor do I want to say things that can knock down someone’s self esteem.

So when a friend sent me that viral video a few days ago of the women who receive words of encouragement via a talking mirror, saying that it reminded her of me, it was awesome. Somewhat of a validation that I am someone that some look to as a positive force in their lives and that made me feel good.

Mike and I had talked about how we need to not only focus on trying to be better parents but better people as individuals. Cause we’re not only mom and dad to the Kobzeff Boys, we’re also someone’s kids, friends, confidants.

What we do, the kids will do…and that’s eye opening…and humbling.

You know when you go to church and there are times when the message is just so perfect for you…like the speaker had you specifically in mind when he came up with it?

Dudes, that happened to me TODAY.

The message today at church was about the power of WORDS and how it can do two things: Be destructive or constructive. They can tear someone down or build someone up. Words are so powerful that it could change the atmosphere, the air of a room, the survival of all relationships, the mental and physical health of your fellow man and woman.

Republican, Democrat, gay, straight…ETC.

God did not intend for us to have labels.

People with a pure heart can see the good in everything.

This is when it gets really hard for Christians. To forget about the labels and to love everyone not as a community but as family.

POWERFUL.

Be careful of the things that come out of your mouth. What seems to be funny to someone could really hurt another person if it’s meant to break someone down. Truth is truth but to do it in a civilized manner is an entirely different thing. You can disagree with something…but find a way to respect it too. To me, that’s what defines an adult…someone I want to be around…someone I find necessary in my life.

So yes, I’m a nice person…but I still have a lot of growing up to do when it comes to the verbal part…and sure, it’s embarrassing to admit but that’s okay…because I don’t keep up with the Joneses and find the need to look “well put together” cause I’m soooo not, I try to be careful but I don’t care to sugar coat things that need to be said and I know that the people who care about me will help me be better…like they already do…and maybe along the way…they can become better too.

TRUE STORY.

To look at someone and see: Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control against such things, there is no law. (Galations 5:22) Holy freakin moly…I want to be that. You don’t have to go to church to want to be that. It should be a universal thing.

So starting today, with a grateful heart…all talk no action is dead…it’s all about the action baby.

Words have the power to heal.
Words have the power to kill.
Words have the power to activate JOY.
Words have the power to bring someone to life.
Words should never be taken lightly or for granted.

I am determined to live this unpredictable life in the most positive and good way.

I deserve it, the people who I encounter deserve it…and ultimately, I hope my boys grow up to be a positive force as well so that when I am gone, someone will ask them about me and they will proudly say, “Our mom was full of flaws but all around a rad little woman who loved her beer and bomchickabowwow books. But we are who we are because of her and we’ll always be grateful for that.”

So, lets get to it.
